Why I started UR Digital?

This is a very interesting story at least that is what I think.

Back in 2017, I was working a regular job and was having a conversation with my wife one day. We were thinking life has become monotonous, and the conversation boiled down to the only question:

“what are we actually doing?”

That is when I decided I want to change my life around.

I wanted freedom, loads of money and wanted to give my family a great life.

After 5 years here is what I have achieved:

Freedom: Yes

Money: No

Quality of life: Partially

Running a business is loads of fun, no two days are the same, but my only advice to anyone thinking about getting into business especially one that is bootstrapped.

Say goodbye’s to your family now, because once it starts there will be no time for that. You are in it 24/7 365 days a year. You cannot get sick, you cannot take time off, period.

Few additional pieces of advice:

• Surround yourself with good people only.
• Choose your vendors carefully. Most vendors have vested interests, but ensure they also want you to succeed.
• Do not bend over for anyone. This one I have learnt the hard way.
• Do not justify yourself.
• Your customer must also give you the same respect as you give to them. If they don’t let them go.

Learn to say ‘No’

This is going to be the most important lesson you will learn. If you cannot say no, you will end up saying yes. Question is what are you saying yes to? Are you saying yes to:

• No family time
• No vacations
• No profits
• More pressure on your team

What are you giving up? Whatever it is, trust me it is not worth it.
