The end of CC Surcharges

28 Sept 2026

On 1st October 2026, credit card surcharging will be banned in Australia as mandated by the Reserve Bank of Australia.

I personally hate surcharges along with lock in contracts, so when I started my business, I decided that my business would not do two things:

  • No surcharges ever
  • No lock in contracts ever

So this change, does not affect me personally. But I am so angry that these stupid changes that RBA decides from their cushy offices are so far fetched from real world. We have been absorbing the cost of CC payments since day 1, whether the invoice is for $1 or $20K and I can tell you it is a lot. Our volume is not in millions and our margins are healthy so we are fine, but if our volume would be in millions, we would be jacking up our pricing.

RBA missed a fundamental question. Who is going to pay for this cost? Is it the business owner or the consumer? I can tell you one thing, it is always the consumer that pays the cost, if business owners pay, eventually there will be no business, cause many businesses operate on razor thin margins.

Another fuck all move by RBA. If the pricing goes up, inflation goes up, which means they will jack up interest rates, which will slow down the economy, putting downward pressure on businesses.

Michelle Bullock’s salary is over $1M, what the fuck does she know about the real world.

My note to Michelle Bullock and Australian government: If you really want Australians to prosper, increase consumption and local manufacturing. And if you cannot do that, just get out and resign, you are not doing the job you are mandated to do.
